BarackObama.com - new site on the way

Just watched Barack’s “preview”:http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid474543990/bclid492760671/bctid492760670 of tomorrow’s announcement in Springfield. About half-way through, he talks about the new site that will go live as soon as his announcement’s official (transcription is mine, may not be 100%):
I hope that you use this website as a tool to organize your friends, your neighbors and your networks. The website [...]

Newt Gingrich: the Howard Dean of 2008

Remember my comment “last week”:http://www.rklau.com/tins/archives/2007/01/18/thoughts_on_2008.php?
I think conditions are very ripe for the GOP to see a Dean-like candidate rise from nowhere. What I mean by that is that there’s considerable dissatisfaction within the rank and file. The leadership appears to be out of touch: the party of small government has radically grown the government. The [...]

Barack Obama for President

As you’ve likely seen all over the web today, Barack Obama announced he’s formed an exploratory committee and will formally announce his decision about running for President on February 10 in Springfield. I am elated at this news. More later (I’m traveling for the next few days).

Grassroots AdSense Strategy

Browsing a news article today about Barack Obama’s swing through New Hampshire, I was struck by the AdSense ad block on the right: an ad for Barack’s own site at “BarackObama.com”:http://www.barackobama.com/, an ad for “DraftObama.org”:http://www.draftobama.org/, a site run by my buddy Ben Stanfield designed to encourage the Senator to run for President, and an intriguing [...]

Barack Hussein Obama

For those that missed this wonderful nugget on MSNBC last week, go “check it out”:http://yglesias.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/nov/29/new_gop_attack_on_obama_his_name_is_hussein. A GOP strategist thinks he’ll score some points by race-baiting. “Count me down as somebody that underestimates Barack Hussein Obama,” Rogers said.
Good Lord.
My recommended come-back? “Sure, my middle name is Hussein. But to be honest, it’s not like Saddam’s still [...]

Google Trends and Barack Obama

Over at his blog, Erik Heels suggests that based on current data, “Hillary Clinton will beat Barack Obama”:http://www.erikjheels.com/2006-12-04-barak-obama-vs-hillary-clinton.html. Only he gets it slightly wrong: he compared Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama. Here’s the chart Erik came up with:
Barak Obama (blue) vs. Hillary Clinton (red)

I thought this was a bit odd: why weren’t there any news [...]

He sure gives a good stump speech.

New site at BarackObama.com

Congrats to Jim & team for the new site at “BarackObama.com”:http://www.barackobama.com/. Lots of good content, and I’ve been promised some cool new features in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned.

Lunch with Obama

“Will”:http://www.coxesroost.net/journal sent me a link to the Freakonomics blog post about how “Senator Obama drops his kids off”:http://www.freakonomics.com/blog/2006/02/06/how-many-us-senators-drop-their-own-kids-off-at-nursery-school/ at nursery school, and how lunch with the Senator at an upcoming fundraiser is expected to go for $20,000.
One man who won’t be bidding? “John McCain”:http://mccain.senate.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=NewsCenter.ViewPressRelease&Content_id=1654.
_Ouch._

Barack is on The Daily Show tonight

So the “earlier reports”:http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/chi-0511070197nov07,1,4243638.story?coll=chi-news-hed of his appearance on the Daily Show being cancelled were premature… turns out that both host and guest wanted to make it happen, so they’re doing it via satellite tonight. Won’t be quite the same, but will still be fun to see our Senator on America’s finest fake news show.
