Bloggity blog in Blogginois

Zorn “asks”:http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/ericzorn/weblog/archives/2005/05/will_the_circle.html, and I deliver.
The object of his blogging (and therefore indirectly _my_ blogging), is Barabara’s “blogging”:http://blogmaven.easyjournal.com/ about Eric’s blogging:
bq. _[Reading Zorn] can suck away your time, though, so watch out if you are on the clock at work and start reading Zorn._
You mean I can’t get paid to blog about him blogging about her [...]

Going to Gnomedex

I’m looking forward to going to “Gnomedex”:http://www.gnomedex.com/ this year; it’ll be my first time, looks like it’ll be a ton of fun. Fellow Naperville blogger “Mike Marusin”:http://www.marusin.com/ will be there… who else that swings by here from time to time will be in Seattle next month?

Ed Cone on dreaming

Ed Cone “reports”:http://radio.weblogs.com/0107946/2005/05/19.html#a4189 remorsefully: “This is depressing that … the blogger in my dream is “Jarvis”:http://www.buzzmachine.com/ rather than “Wonkette”:http://www.wonkette.com/.”

Blog survey

Henry Copeland at Blogads.com is doing another survey of blog readers; please take a few minutes to “fill out the survey”:http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=34292894798 — it should take just 4-5 minutes, and it’s a good way to get a better sense of who’s reading, what your interests are, etc.
In question #16, please mention this blog (just “tins” is [...]

Staples pulls ads from Sinclair

I’d like to think that the blogs (see “here”:http://www.rklau.com/tins/archives/2004/10/12/sinclair_broadcast_group_in_illinois.php for more info) had more than a little bit to do with “this development”:http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA491503.html?display=Breaking+News&referral=SUPP. As of next week, Staples will be pulling all advertising from Sinclair Broadcasting Group.

BlogWalk 6 in Chicago

Count me in:
Definitely looking forward to having this come to Chicago. And to
finally getting to meet Lilia face-to-face. Glad to see that Jack
Vinson is able to take a lead role. Jack, you know where to find me for
help.
BlogWalk 6 in Chicago
As Ton has announced, “It is our pleasure to announce a new edition of BlogWalk, [...]

BlogAds and the blogging revolution

Michael Klam wrote a cover story in Sunday’s “New York Times Magazine”:http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/26/magazine/26BLOGS.html?adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1096214534-HOZTnABs0rdWG82oZ6EptA&pagewanted=print&position= that profiled “Kos”:http://www.dailykos.com/, “Josh”:http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/, and “Wonkette”:http://www.wonkette.com/. Kos and I spoke on a panel in Boston at the DNC, and I was actually present during part of the interview in Boston. (And sadly, I had a coveted invite to the party where the fight [...]

Referral logs as intelligence

Twice in the past week my referral logs have told me something I didn’t know. In the first case, it was that “a high school classmate and dear friend had passed away”:http://www.rklau.com/tins/archives/2004/09/09/rosemary_quigley_rip.php. In the second, it was that “someone I’d written about a while back”:http://www.rklau.com/tins/archives/2003/04/02/pillsbury_settles_with_frode_jensen.php is “in the news again”:http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=frode+jensen&btnG=Search+News. In both cases, the spike [...]

WP’s Best Blogs

In a shameless attempt to boost their traffic, the Washington Post has encouraged us to shamelessly promote our own sites:
bq.
So… swing on over to the “Washington Post”:http://www.washingtonpost.com/bestblogs and nominate this site, or any of the other fine sites out there.
In the immortal words of “Bartles and Jaymes”:http://www.bartlesandjaymes.com/, thank you for your support…

Eric Zorn’s blog turns one

Eric Zorn notes today that his blog experiment is “one year old”:http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-0408190197aug19,1,6154573.column and reflects on what he’s learned. It’s a great write-up from an established journalist who’s not only glad he did it, he’s cutting out his Sunday column in the Chicago Tribune in part to spend more time on his blog.
And in a related [...]
