Porting the k-collector client to MovableType

Today I started work on porting the k-collector client to MovableType.
[via Curiouser and curiouser!]
This is exciting. Matt is the brains behind liveTopics, a product that fundamentally enhanced mynbspuse of Radio. Now that I’m a Movable Type user, I think this is a very encouraging sign.

Weblogs and knowledge management

Weblogs and knowledge management Another stream of recent posts has focused on weblogs as a tool for knowledge management both to capture and share knowledge. They include a mix of posts focusing on individual knowledge workers and on knowledge workers within organizations.

Communal topics and super-blogs

Communal topics and super-blogs
Something we’ve just got working today (okay Simone got it working, but I did a valuable job cheering him on) is one of the final pieces in the k-collector puzzle. The server now sends the client a URL corresponding to each topic in the cloud. This enables the client to create [...]

The ABC’s of Personal Knowledge Management

The ABC’s of Personal Knowledge Management
Who would have thought that one of the most powerful personal knowledge management tools available to us is the simple alphabet. For a while now I’ve been using the ideas of David Allen and his Getting Things Done (GTD) process for organising oneself. His ideas for keeping [...]

Blogs increase the surface area of organizations

Blogs increase the surface area of organizations
I’m often criticized for using biological metaphors for organizations, but I think they’re very effective sometimes.

Kingsley Martin, formerly CIO at Kirkland & Ellis, is a sharp guy when it comes to KM. He’s a lawyer (with law degrees from both Oxford and Harvard) who has been focused on KM-related issues for over 15 years. He was one of my co-panelists at last week’s Executive Director Forum, and I was excited to [...]

K-log Pilot Follow-up

Roland Tanglao asks about my piloting a K-Log post: Very cool, Rick! Will these klogs use Radio and will they be public?
Yes and no. We’ll use Radio to start out. The initial efforts will be internally focused - mostly because I want to conquer issues one at a time. I see the biggest hurdle being the [...]

Piloting a K-Log

We’re kicking off a k-log initiative at my company tomorrow. I’ve identified a dozen people to serve as guinea pigs. IT installs the software tomorrow, and they’ll take a few days to get familiar with the software. Rather than bombard them with any formal training right away, I want them to be comfortable with what’s [...]
