Testing Movable Type 3.0

Just a quick test of Movable Type 3.0. If anything looks funky, let me know.

Great Movable Type tutorial

Erik Heels just did a great “Movable Type brain dump”:http://www.lawlawlaw.com/movable-type-brain-dump.html that’s well worth a look.

Movable Type 2.65

I’ve upgraded this site to “Movable Type 2.65″:http://www.movabletype.org/news/2003_12.shtml#000878, which addresses a couple vulnerabilities discovered in Movable Type. If you’re running MT, this is a simple but necessary upgrade. Shouldn’t take you more than 5 minutes.
If you notice anything funky, let me know!

Movable Type hacks

This has been on my list for a while, and now that it’s implemented it’s certain to be something I’ll use daily. Note: this requires PHP to implement.
What I’ve done is pretty straightforward: to visitors, nothing has changed. But for me, whenver I visit my weblog, I see an “edit” link next to every post [...]

Implemented MT-RefSearch

Now that I’ve moved my Movable Type installation to mySQL, I have some pretty powerful options at my disposal for making the blog more user-friendly. Highest on my list was implementing “MT-RefSearch”:http://eliot.landrum.cx/archives/2002/12/12/07_the_wonderwhammy_release.php, a PHP/mySQL hack that helps all those Googling monkeys find what they need.
Here’s how it works: when a user executes a search at [...]

K-Collector for Movable Type

Many thanks to Matt Mower for letting me play with a soon-to-be-released copy of K-Collector for Movable Type. For those that don’t know, K-Collector is a tool that lets you add topic-specific information to your posts. The first step is giving you a way of visually representing the who/what/where of your weblog by showing others [...]

New Macro with MTMacro - Google queries

If this works, I should be able to add <google> tags to my blog posts, and it will automatically create a linked Google query: Rick Klau.
Code for the macro courtesy of “Code Poetry”:http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache:Y5g-nidGfv4J:www.codepoetry.net/archives/2003/03/15/how_to_google_searches_through_mtmacro.php+mtmacro+google&hl=en&ie=UTF-8, who lists all macros on their site “here”:http://www.codepoetry.net/inc.macros.

Feedback on MT-Amazon plugin

I experienced a few problems this morning with the MT-Amazon plugin. It happened while I was monkeying around with my template, so I originally assumed it was something I’d done… but nothing I did to the templates fixed the error. Eventually I found a couple threads at the “Amazon.com”:http://www.movabletype.org/support/index.php?act=ST&f=20&t=29229&s=54d35e2afb4a5a54b2a58a8abed11f25 discussion board that seemed to confirm [...]

K-Collector for Movable Type

I was IM’ing with “Matt Mower”:http://matt.blogs.it/ yesterday and he let me know that he was going to be getting me an early version of the “K-Collector Client for Movable Type”:http://matt.blogs.it/2003/10/29.html#a1187 sometime tomorrow.
I’m excited about this, as I see K-Collector as an incredibly powerful way of aggregating and classifying content across blogs. See a demo of [...]

Changes to the blog

I’ve been doing some tweaking to this blog in the past couple days, experimenting with some “Movable Type” plugins to extend the functionality of this site. Some new items:
* Installed “MT-Amazon”:http://mtamazon.sourceforge.net/, a plugin that lets me link this blog to Amazon.com using the Amazon web services API. Without the technobabble, that means that I can [...]
