Jabra bluetooth headset on its way
One of the reasons I bought my Motorola V600 (note: now $49.99 with rebates!) a few months ago was its Bluetooth capabilities. In particular, I planned to get a Bluetooth headset so that I’d have a wireless earpiece for the phone; friends had raved about them and I figured it would be a nice addition. [...]
TiVo just got a lot more interesting
While we’re on the subject of great deals at Amazon.com, here’s another: the Toshiba SD-H400 is now less than $300. It’s a combination TiVo series 2 and DVD player. I got one for Christmas, and it’s a wonderful combination. The DVD picture and sound quality are spectacular (far better than my original DVD player), and [...]
Motorola v600 - cell phone heaven
Thanks to all who gave me input a couple weeks back on my cell phone purchase. In the end, I went with the Motorola V600, a truly beautiful phone. It’s now down to $99 at Amazon.com (after rebates), which is a great deal (it’s $200 more if you buy direct from AT&T).
What I love about [...]
Just when Handpspring service couldn’t get worse
Back in August, my Treo 180 cracked. It turns out the flip cover is quite sensitive. The hinge simply cracked after about 8 months of use — and I was ready to send it back to Handspring for a replacement. But wait! “Buzz”:http://buzzmodo.typepad.com/ had a better answer — he knows a guy in PR at [...]
Time for a new cell phone
The cover on my Treo cracked again (I had the 270, it replaced a 180 which had a screen crack). I’m not traveling as much these days, so a smart phone with e-mail access isn’t as important. I’m primarily interested in long talk/standby time, and the ability to sync with my PC. Beyond that, anything [...]
Mirra personal server
Interesting “review”:http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/ptech/01/02/personal.server.ap/index.html at CNN.com about the “Mirra personal server”:http://www.mirra.com/, a Linux-powered home appliance that serves as a personal server. No IP settings to worry about, and it’ll automatically back up any computer connected to the network. It appears to offer file versioning, so you can always revert to a prior version of the file, which [...]
Roll your own TiVo on Linux
If I had a lot of free time and a decent budget, I would “do this”:http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,1016212,00.asp in a heartbeat.
iTunes
I downloaded “iTunes”:http://www.apple.com/itunes/ for Windows last week, and share the enthusiasm expressed elsewhere. It is by far the easiest to use and most sophisticated music management application for Windows. I’ve been a MusicMatch user for about four years, and always found it to be a little too user-unfriendly.
Some things that make it so good:
* The [...]
Jealousy is…
… someone else “having a Treo 600″:http://www.buzzmachine.com/archives/2003_10.html#004839.
Treo 600
!http://www.handspring.com/treo600/images/treo_image.jpg(Treo 600 is in development)!
I’m actually kind of surprised that I haven’t seen more people drooling over this phone. “Ernie”:http://radio.weblogs.com/0104634/ are you listening?!
I currently use the no-longer-available “Treo 180″:http://www.handspring.com/products/treo/index.jhtml?prod_cat_name=Treo&sub_nav_section=Overview (the black and white version) with T-Mobile. It’s a great phone, though I would admit to some frustration with the battery life and some stability issues.
Nevertheless, [...]
